Flood mapping

Flood maps are one of the main outputs of the study and have been prepared in a number of different formats, each designed for various end uses, and representing both current and future flood risk. The flood maps have been generated from the outputs of the hydraulic computer models which provide data on water levels, flows, depths and velocities. The maps have been produced for 19 rivers in the study area and for the Fingal and Meath coastline and provide valuable graphical information on flooding within the study area.

The maps are being used within the study to identify areas of significant flood risk and to inform the development of flood risk management options. These flood maps can also be used to:

Information on the main mapping formats being produced for the FEM FRAMS study is provided below:

The flood maps will be available on the OPW flood hazard mapping website, www.floodmaps.ie, once the project has been completed. Draft flood maps for consultation can be downloaded from the following link.
